Alginate

Alginate is used extensively as an impression-making material in dentistry, prosthetics, life-casting and occasionally for creating positives for small-scale casting where latex, silicones, or urethane elastomers are not suitable. Alginate is one of the afest art materials available. It has been used BILLIONS of times (in people's mouths) all over the world for the past 80 years with virtually no allergic reactions or adverse health effects.

It is SAFE, SAFE, SAFE!

Our life-casting alginates are silica free and are both environmentally and user friendly. These products are ideal for life-casting babies and small children as it is very gentle on the model.

Dental Alginate moulds are known as "waste moulds" as they usually only can be used for one, perhaps two castings as alginate shrinks through time as the water evaporates. Due to this shrinkage the mould is usually destroyed whilst removing the casting. Thus, you should cast into your alginate mold within 3-hours for best results.

Available in 450gram pack. Currently we are stocking both Chromax (standard) and Millenium (Premium).

Will's Tips: Use petroleum jelly or cold cream on any hairy parts as alginate is an excellent hair remover!

Use ice cold water to give you an extended working time.

Have all your materials (and extra) ready to go before you start.

Plaster will give you the best casting out of your alginate mould but some quick setting

                      polyurethanes will work as well.

                      DO A TEST!!!
