Silica Gel Dessicant - White
Silica gel is a granular, vitreous, porous form of silica made synthetically from sodium silicate. As a desicant, it has an average pore size of 2.4 nanometers and has a strong affinity for water molecules. Under optimal conditions, silica gel can absorb up to 40% of it's own weight at 100% humidity.
Silica gel is used as a desicant to control local humidity in order to avoid spoilage or degradation of some goods. Because of poisonous dopants and their very high absorption of moisture, silica gel packets bear warnings for the user not to eat the contents. If consumed, the pure silica gel is unlikely to cause acute or chronic illness.
Available in 1 gram sachets and can be used for many small applications.
